A photo-walk around Martin Mere Part 2

This photograph of a male Mallard duck was made by my wife, who was quick enough to make the shot as the duck had just re-surfaced after diving down into the mere. The detail on the feathers and the water running off the duck make it a lovely image. This may be a very common bird but the picture brings out all the beautiful colours that you don't catch unless close up. The Canon SX70HS lens did a fine job even though the 1 /2.3in type sensor is modest. The DIGIC 8 processor does a good job at bringing out the best in a photograph taken from a distance and at speed. Focal length: 247mm. Centre-weighted average metering, f/8 at 1/250. Shutter priority.
